I finally sat down this evening and started the process for my EPIK application. After reading so many helpful blogs over the past few months, I know how long this is going to take (especially this first part). So I’m starting with requesting my FBI Criminal Background Check as early as possible – while still staying within the timeframe (the CBC can’t be more than 6 months old when I apply for my visa, which should be in July).
The FBI goes out of its way to help you with this process, even though it’s a little complex. They even have an incredibly helpful checklist that you can follow to make sure that you’ve correctly completed all of the steps:
They keep moving the forms around so I’m not going to link straight to the application form, but if you start from their main Identity History Summary Checks page those links should stay pretty current.
I filled out the (1) application form, (2) credit card payment form, and (3) fingerprint card, and packaged them all up in an envelope. I’ll send them off in the mail tomorrow and then the waiting game begins – somewhere between 8-12 weeks I hear.
